Frequently asked questions
Notary Questions, Answered Plainly
If your question is not answered here, call or text (680) 223-5464 and we will walk you through it.
Do you have a physical office?
No. Gotham's Finest Services is a mobile and online notary service based in the Bronx. There is no public walk-in office. We travel to you, or meet with you online when your document is eligible.
Where will you travel?
The Bronx, Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island, and nearby New York areas by request. Travel availability and fees depend on the appointment location.
What identification do I need?
Each signer needs a current, acceptable government-issued photo ID with a signature, such as a state driver license, non-driver ID, or passport. The name on the ID must match the name on the document.
Can every document be notarized online?
No. Remote online notarization availability depends on the document, the signer's identification, technology requirements, location, and applicable law. Some receiving parties also require a traditional in-person notarization. We confirm eligibility before your appointment.
Should I sign my document beforehand?
Please leave the document unsigned until the notary gives you instructions. Some notarial acts require you to sign in the notary's presence.
Can you provide witnesses?
Witnesses are not automatically included. Tell us during your request whether witnesses are needed. When witness coordination is possible it is arranged in advance and quoted separately.
Do you visit hospitals and nursing facilities?
Yes. These visits are subject to facility rules, access approval, identification requirements, scheduling, and possible waiting time. The signer must be able to communicate directly with the notary and understand the document.
Do you handle correctional-facility appointments?
Yes, by request. These appointments depend on facility approval, scheduling windows, security screening, and the identification available to the signer.
How much does a mobile appointment cost?
Pricing depends on the number and type of notarial acts, appointment location, travel distance, parking, tolls, scheduling requirements, facility access, waiting time, witnesses, printing, and other requested services. You will receive a complete quote before your appointment is confirmed. Notarial fees regulated by New York law are listed separately from travel and convenience charges.
Is my appointment confirmed after submitting the form?
Not yet. Submitting the form is an appointment request. Your appointment is confirmed only after Gotham's Finest Services contacts you with availability and a complete quote.
Can a notary prepare or explain my legal document?
No. A notary public cannot select documents, prepare legal documents, explain legal rights, or advise you about the legal effect of a document. Please contact a licensed attorney for legal advice.
What happens if the signer does not have acceptable identification?
The notary must decline the notarization when identity cannot be properly verified. If this happens, we will explain what is missing so you can reschedule once acceptable identification is available. Contact us before the appointment if you are unsure about the ID you have.
